Tummy tuck surgery is also known as abdominoplasty. The procedure is commonly responsible for removing excess fat and skin, in majority of cases, restoring weakened or separating muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.

Most of us strive for a flat and well-toned abdomen through exercise and weight control. However, sometimes these methods don’t see to work for us. Even people with otherwise normal body weight and proportions may develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging.

The commonest causes of this loosening or sagging include:

Aging
Pregnancy
Prior surgery
Heredity
Significant fluctuations in weight

We at Vimhans PrimaMed Institute of Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery have experts specialize in tummy tuck procedures. Our world class cosmetic and plastic surgeons are equipped with cutting edge equipment and keep themselves updated with the latest developments and innovations in the field.

Ideal Candidate

You may be an ideal candidate for tummy tuck procedure if:

You are bothered by the appearance of your abdomen
You are physically healthy with a stable weight
You have realistic expectations
You are a non-smoker

Tummy tuck is a highly individualized procedure and you are required to do it yourself, not to fulfill someone else’s expectations or to try to fit any kind of ideal image.

Procedure

During the procedure, the surgeon will give you general anesthesia to comfort you. A full tummy tuck needs a horizontally-oriented incision in the area between the belly button and pubic hairline. The length and shape of the incision will be determined by the amount of excess skin. When the abdominal skin is lifted, underlying weakened muscles are repaired.

A second incision around the navel will be relevant to remove excess skin in the upper abdomen. The upper abdominal skin is then pulled down like a window shade. The excess skin is trimmed and the remaining is sutured together. A fresh opening for the belly button is created. The belly button is usually popped through to the surface and sutured into position.

Then, the incisions are closed by using skin adhesives, sutures, tapes, and clips. Tummy tuck results in a flatter, firmer abdominal that is more proportionate with the body type and weight.
