Ideal Candidate

In case you have fine lines or wrinkles around the eyes or mouth or on your forehead, scars from acne, or non-responsive skin after a facelift, you may be a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing.

If you have dark skin, or acne, you are not a candidate. This technique is not recommended for stretch marks as well. You better discuss whether the procedure is right for you by consulting with a trained dermatologist at Vimhans PrimaMed before having the procedure done.

Laser Types

CO2 Lasers- This type of laser is the highest intensity laser treatment available today. After being treated with the CO2 laser, the surface of your skin looks tighter and smoother because the laser utilizes the heat in order to restrict the collagen bands found in the lower dermis.

Erbium Lasers- They are able to remove thinner layers of your skin than the more powerful, but lee precise CO2 laser. Erbium laser is better choice for the people with dark skin.

A laser skin resurfacing can be performed either in an outpatient surgery facility or hospital. It is often performed under the impact of local anesthesia. After administering anesthesia, the surgeon uses a special laser in order to perform the skin resurfacing procedure. Using a controlled and precise beam of laser light, the outer layers of the skin are vaporized, revealing the smoother, fresh and young skin beneath.

While the old layers of the skin are eliminated, the growth of new skin cells is stimulated. A full laser skin resurfacing procedure may take up to two hours, while a partial one takes 30 to 45 minutes. Your doctor will help you prepare a profitable laser skin resurfacing recovery.
