Head and neck diseases and disorders are well-suited for the minimally invasive diagnostic and surgical techniques because the ear, nasal and throat passages provide a natural entryway for the thin and sophisticated instruments used in these procedures. These procedures result in minimum tissue damage, a quicker recovery, nominal pain and less scarring than traditional treatments performed through open incisions. For eye, nose and throat (ENT) minimally invasive procedures that need external incisions, our world class specialists at Vimhans PrimaMed work to keep scarring at a minimum.

Our leading surgeons are experts in treating complex and high-risk ENT problems through minimally invasive techniques. These surgeons effectively collaborate with each other and other Vimhans PrimaMed specialists to provide comprehensive care even for the most challenging cases. Our otolaryngologists have been utilizing minimally invasive surgery for treating ENT problems for a long time, long before the technique became as common as it is today.

Our surgeons at Vimhans PrimaMed are experienced in performing transoral robotic surgery (TORS) through the use of the da Vinci Surgical System to effectively treat multiple conditions in the throat. This involves surgery for malignant and benign tumors of the tongue, larynx and tonsil as well as base of the tongue reduction for obstructive sleep apnea. The minimally invasive procedure combines state-of-the-art visualization and success rates with minimum scarring and tissue damage.

Procedures

Some of the leading minimally invasive ENT surgery procedures performed at Vimhans PrimaMed Institute of Minimal Invasive Surgery include:

Endoscopic skull base surgery- Tumors of the skull were previously treated through large incisions. Now they can be eliminated endoscopically through the nose.

Endoscopic sinus surgery- Sinus surgery can treat chronic sinusitis or frequent sinus headaches, but conventional surgery can leave scars and disrupt the delicate sinus tissues. Through a small lighted tube called an endoscope, our exceptional ENT surgeons can correct sinus problems from the inside, eliminating the need for incisions.

Laryngeal surgery- Procedures for improving the voice are often performed through the mouth, and don’t result in external scars. Our experts are now able to perform different laser surgeries of the voice box under sedation aiming that the general anesthesia is not required.

Septoplasty- Sometimes, the cartilage and bone separating the nasal cavities is crooked. In case this interferes with breathing, septoplasty may be done in order to correct the septum's alignment or to remove the crooked portions. This surgical procedure is performed from inside the nose, meaning there are no external cuts or scars on the face.

Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy: In the event that a patient's tonsils and/or adenoids become inflamed or infected, the most effective course of action is to remove them.
