Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) is a method of taking images of the veins, arteries, and organs of the body. Complex computerized x-ray equipment is used in the procedure. This commonly requires an injection of a special ‘dye’ in order to highlight the blood supply to the legs, heart or other organ. The ‘dye’ is a liquid which shows on x-rays due to its high density. This ‘dye’ is harmless and will pass out of the body in urine over hours following the test. Our DSA Cath Labs at Vimhans PrimaMed Institute of Radio Diagnostics & Imaging are equipped with latest technological tools and equipment used in performing tests and generating accurate reports. Our trained radiologists specialize in performing Digital Subtraction Angiography by using advanced technology available.

Procedure

During the procedure you will be asked to lie down on an x-ray couch. Your heart rate and pulses will be monitored throughout the test. The X-ray equipment is capable of moving through 360 degree and will take a series of x-ray images which will later be manipulated and enhanced by the radiographer. The team that will be with you during the test may include a consultant, radiographer, nurse, and ECG technician.

Depending more upon the test you are having done, it could take anything between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Some other common tests carried out in out labs are:

Angioplasty
Arterial Stent
Coronary Angiogram
Biliary Procedures
Femoral Angiogram
Pacemaker
Nephrostomy
