A body lift is a surgical procedure done to improve the tone and shape of the underlying tissue that supports skin and fat. Excess fat and sagging skin are removed and the procedure may improve a dimpled, irregular skin surface. A body lift may involve these areas:

Abdomen- locally or extending around the sides and into the lower back area
Buttocks
Thigh- the outer, inner, or posterior thigh, or the thigh’s circumference

There are a number of factors, such as aging, pregnancy, sun damage, fluctuations in weight and genetics, may contribute to poor tissue elasticity that may lead to sagging of abdomen, buttocks and thighs.

We at Vimhans PrimaMed Institute of Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery have an experienced team of qualified cosmectic and plastic surgeons specialize in body lift procedures. Our surgeons perform hundreds of successful body lift surgeries each year.

Procedure

Body lift procedures require extensive incisions. Incision pattern and length depend on the amount and location of the excessive skin to be removed, and surgical judgment. Cutting edge techniques generally allow incisions to be placed in straight locations where they can be hidden by different types of clothing and swimsuits.

The surgery is done under the influence of general anesthesia. A common technique of the complete lower body lift uses incisions similar to a bikini pattern to tighten the abdomen, waist, groin, thigh and buttock in a single procedure. Surgical body lifts may also require liposuction to achieve an improved contour.

Deep sutures within underlying tissues help in order to form and support the newly shaped contours. Sutures, tapes, skin adhesives, or clips are used to close the incisions. The results of a body lift surgery are visible almost immediately.
